Provider Spotlight: Karin!
Provider Spotlight: Karin Jackson, M.A., CCC-SLP 💗
With 30 years in the field, Karin Jackson brings deep experience, perspective, and heart to everything she does as an SLP. Based in St. Louis, Karin has worked across nearly every setting imaginable: non-profits, outpatient clinics, pediatric hospitals, home health, virtual services, and now schools. Through it all, one thing has remained constant: her belief in the power of connection.
Karin’s journey into speech-language pathology began when a high school friend introduced her to deaf education while she was an undeclared junior in college. “The rest is history,” she says. And three decades later, the profession is clearly better for it.
A Heart for Phonology (and Lifelong Learning)
Karin has a special place in her heart for students with phonological disorders. Her first job out of graduate school was at a non-profit clinic serving young children ages 2–7, and that early experience shaped her clinical passion. While her career has evolved over the years, that foundation continues to guide her work today.
She’s also always looking ahead. One of her big professional goals is to pursue Board Certification in Language. Proof that even after 30 years, growth and curiosity still matter.
“Love Them. Just Love Them.”
When asked what advice she’d give to a new therapist, Karin recalls words shared with her by a school counselor when she returned to the profession after raising her four children:
“Love them. Just love them; the rest will fall into place.”
That philosophy shows up in how she talks about students, too. To Karin, every student is a “beautiful soul” deserving of love, respect, and the chance to share themselves with the world. “They are seriously all my favorites,” she says, and she means it.
Beyond the Therapy Room
Outside of work, Karin enjoys spending time with her family, discovering new coffee shops, walking her three dogs (yes, three!), traveling, and catching up on sleep. She’s a fan of Brooklyn Nine-Nine and Ted Lasso, loves the audiobook version of Remarkably Bright Creatures (Marcellus’s voice is a must), and turns to Mel Robbins for motivation, especially the simple but powerful mantra: “Let them.”
Another guiding quote comes from Joshua 1:3:
“Every place that the sole of your foot will tread upon I have given you.”
