Provider Spotlight: Meghan!
Meghan with her daughter, Navy.
Meghan is a Missouri-based SLP with 15 years in the field. Meghan’s career has strongly focused on helping others and increasing access to services in rural communities. She was inspired to become an SLP by her mom, a former special education director. Meghan has also been the recipient of several awards during her career, including the Memory Care Innovator Award.
A Broad Range of Experience
Meghan’s broad range of experience includes public and private schools (at all grade levels), early intervention, adult home health, skilled nursing, supervision (students, CFs, SLPAs), as well as private practice and clinic ownership. Her most passionate areas of expertise include supervision, case management, AAC, and early intervention. Meghan also shows a genuine desire for serving rural communities with limited access to SLP services.
Why It Matters
Meghan’s favorite part of this field is experiencing student progress, especially witnessing those “lightbulb” moments. She loves seeing the look on a student’s face when they learn a new skill or can communicate something new. She particularly enjoys the unexpected hugs and high fives (or emojis during virtual therapy)!
Advice That Sticks
One piece of advice she would give to new therapists?
“Do your best to say ‘yes’ to new opportunities (but know when to say ‘no’). Take every chance to learn and grow as a clinician. Find something positive in every day.”
Life Outside the Therapy Room
When she is not working, Meghan enjoys going for walks and runs with her 1-year-old daughter, Navy. She unwinds by getting massages at her favorite spa. Fun fact, Meghan also owns a laundromat with her husband and frequently works there on the weekends!
Favorites & Mindset
Meghan’s favorite books and movies are biographies or any real-life stories. Her go-to mantra?
“You can do anything for six months. And probably longer.”
Why Little Sparks
One of Meghan’s favorite parts of working with Little Sparks is the flexibility it provides, allowing her to balance her professional work with her role as a mom.
“I love the flexibility I have since working with Little Sparks. It has been a great fit to go along with my newest job of ‘mom’ and allows me to spend more time at home with my daughter.”
Why We’re Grateful
Meghan brings a unique blend of experience, adaptability, and purpose to her work. Her commitment to expanding access, supporting students, and continuing to grow as a clinician reflects the kind of care and consistency we value in our school partnerships.
